Set Some Goals

I didn't realize how long it had been since I set some goals for myself.  True...honest goals.  Probably since the new year.  So I figured now is as good a time as any.  They're not all weight loss related but they'll undoubtedly help.  October starts a busy few weeks for us.  We have a trip to Disney 10-12, Vegas Warrior Dash October 19-20 and my brother in law's wedding November 3rd.  We need to save a lot of money before these events AND need to be in kick ass shape.  It's not good enough just to set goals...you have to have a plan, a strategy to get it done.  So here we go....

By October 10th,

  1. Only allowed to spend $100/week eating outside the house.  We eat out FAR too often.  This includes lunches, coffee, dinners, breakfasts...ALL of it.
    • Now I'm realistic.  I know we're going to go over this from time to time.  But to make it easier, we're taking out $100 cash every week and when it's gone, it's gone.  Also, Hubby and I have a weekly bet to see who can go the longest that week without buying coffee, lunch or anything.  It's good to have goals but they need to be realistic.  So starting today...no money on outside food during working hours and only $100 on family meals.
  2. 9 weeks - I'm aiming for 1 lb a week.  That's 9 lbs.  Totally doable if I can stick to any kind of freaking plan at all.
    • Subgoal:  Work out at least 3 times a week at the gym. Jenn...I'm counting on you for this one.
  3. Get girls signed up for swimming and/or gymnastics.  Working on finding decent places for this.
  4. Have $200 saved for holiday shopping (that's only $50 per paycheck).  I don't want to be scrambling this year to be able to pay for it.
By October 20th - the Warrior Dash,
  1. That's 10 weeks and 5 days - I want 11 lbs gone.
  2. I need to be able to reach my sit up goal by then.  I can do 25 right now.
  3. Be able to do my assisted pull up with only 50 lbs weight.
  4. Working out at least 3 times a week at gym.
By November 3rd,
  1. 12 weeks and 5 days - 13 lbs gone.
  2. Working out at least 3 days a week at gym.
By November 15th,
  1. Have Lori's birthday shopping done.  I'm always SO last minute with this.
  2. Working out at least 3 days a week at gym.
By December 1st,
  1. $300 in holiday shopping money saved.
  2. 16 weeks and 5 days - 17 lbs gone.
  3. Working out at least 3 days a week at gym.
By December 20th,
  1. All holiday shopping DONE.  I want to focus on baking and ENJOYING the holidays without the madness for 5 days.  That's all I'm asking this year.
  2. 19 weeks and 5 days - 20 lbs gone.
  3. Working out at least 3 days a week at gym.
By December 31st,
  1. 100 sit ups, 100 girl push ups (this goal has been altered)
  2. 1 unassisted pull up
  3. 22 lbs gone.
  4. Working out at least 3 days a week at gym.
These are doable.  It's 1 lb a week.  It's saving $50 per paycheck and even less in October.  It's working out 3 times a week and sticking to a budget for 5 months.  This isn't the impossible folks.  I'm printing these out and posting them in my cube and on my fridge and in my planner and anywhere else where I'll be reminded of them and help keep my eye on the ball.

It has started today.  I have my breakfast and lunch packed.  I'm motivated and I'm ready.  It's time to kick these last 30 lbs to the curb.  It's time to quit eating crappy food I know isn't healthful and it's time to stop wasting money on it.  It's time to set the grown up goals and stick to them.  Next year, I want to purchase another home.  We've got to get on the ball with budgeting.  It all starts NOW.  Who says you can't have August resolutions?

And on that note...a little Monday DEMotivation to get us going...

I love seeing your goals written out - I need to do that as well! For so long my goal has just been "lose weight. Run faster!" I need to be more specific and measurable. Thanks for the inspiration!
